Vinyl Decals: A Better Way
Putting decals on your car window, lunch box, or other surface used to be very messy. They were made of gelatin and you had to soak them in water before you could apply them. They dripped all over the place. Then there was always the possibility of it slipping, giving the image and letters on it kind of a blurry look. And you had to keep the kids from touching it to see if it was dry and leaving fingerprints. When they got old, they cracked and turned yellow. Yuck.
Fortunately, the process is a lot simpler since the advent of vinyl decals. Design, order and press on. That's it. Some take up whole walls, other only a few inches. Some advertise; some brag; some dazzle.
They are especially popular for vehicle detailing and customizing. You've seen those cars with flames on the sides, a checkered flag on the fender, or covered bumper to bumper with racing car logos, beer can graphics and patriotic symbols. Some are flat, while some wrap all the way around the hood or the trunk. And for commercial trucks and vans, decals are perfect for putting the company name on the door or the trailer.
Vinyl decals with adhesive on the face can turn car back windows into ads for your TV repair service, broadcast booths for your pet peeves (the red circle and line over "Fanatics," "Drugs," or an image of Bozo the Clown), displays for religious sentiments, or a memorial for loved who has passed away.
